Developed by John Geier, DiSC® profile is based on the 1928’s work of psychologist William Moulton Marston. It is a self-assessment learning tool that is easy to take and score. The 28 DiSC® questions are not meant to be a form of grading "test" to ascertain how well you perform in the respective sections. Conversely, it indicates your preferred behaviour patterns and tendencies within four dimensions: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness. DiSC® Profiles show the relative strength of each of these behavioural approaches and expresses your overall behavioral style as one of 15 patterns.
By knowing more about your behavioral characteristics, it will facilitate your process in achieving any goals that you may have set. Your enhanced ability to understand and recognize the diversity of people can come in handy in various situations such as dealing with conflicts, promoting interpersonal communications and relationships or even increasing your sales and presentation skills.
The preferred behavior expressed across four primary dimensions is:
Dominance: This dimension measures how one tends to overcome daily challenges and obstacles. A person scoring high in the D dimension is motivated by crisis, challenges and problem solving. They prefer a fast pace, multi-tasking and the authority to make decisions for themselves and others to achieve specific goals. They can be demanding and direct in their speech with others and themselves.
Influence: This measures how one tends to persuade and influence others to change your environment. A high score indicates their level of optimism and ability to generate enthusiasm. They tend to be spontaneous, agreeable, and accepting of others. They are verbally expressive and desire freedom from a lot of rules and regulations.
Steadiness: This dimension measures how people cooperate within their current environments. The higher the score the more they express their loyalty, patience and dependability. They are superb listeners and calming agents in stressful situations because they love harmonious relationships and avoid conflict. They prefer safety, security and predictability with no sudden changes.
Conscientiousness: This measures how we respond to fear and our desire for accuracy and quality details. A high score indicates a high desire for clearly defined expectations with a structured system to accomplish tasks. They work toward high quality and accuracy and want recognition when they achieve it. They like to have the option to ask "why" questions so that they can perform within the system boundaries.
PACE embraces the use of DiSC® to provide its clients with an all-rounded analysis to better develop an individual, a group or an organization.
