An organizational system refers to a collection of inter-dependent organizational processes, procedures, tools, and structures forming an integrated whole. For example, a performance management system comprises job descriptions, performance measures and standards, employee performance data, training programs for evaluators, etc. for boosting employee performance and business productivity. On the other hand, a business or organizational process is a sequence of related structured activities or tasks undertaken by a group of people in a business or organization and external stakeholders to pursue business or organizational goals and objectives and add value to the organization’s performance. Some examples include the product/service design process, production and delivery processes, supplier and partnering processes, etc. The purpose of a business or organizational process is to fulfil an internal and/or external customer’s needs. Business processes can generally be classified into three main categories, namely, management processes which govern the operation of a system (e.g., Corporate Governance, Strategic Management, etc.), operational processes which constitute the core business and create the primary value stream (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Purchasing, etc.), and supporting processes which assist core processes (e.g., Accounting, Recruitment, Technical Support, etc.).
