Following the success of the Real Leaders book that was released in Singapore in August 2012, authors Dr. Lily Cheng and Dr. Peter Cheng have been working on a Chinese version which was officially unveiled at a book launch event held on the 15th and 16th of January 2014 in Beijing. Organised by the publishers, Publishing House of Electronics Industry (PHEI), the first day of the book launch event was attended by Organisation Development (OD) consultants, publishers and representatives from the local media. To kick off the event, Peter’s keynote speech on shared values, highlighting the impact on organisational excellence through the case studies of IBM and Alibaba, before concluding with the four vital steps of a core value OD intervention.
This was succeeded by Lily’s inspiring speech on the difference between the Western and Eastern views on leadership, the components of being a Real Leader and why being real is essential for organisational sustainability in a global and diverse context. This was followed by an insightful Q&A session with the audience to raise questions relating to leadership, culture and performance. The successful launch was concluded with a book signing session, with several copies of the book being presented those who contributed to the interesting exchange in the Q & A session.
A second but more intimate session was held on the following day with officials of state-owned firms and customers of PACE’s joint venture partner in China.
The Real Leaders Chinese version marks an exciting start to 2014, with new opportunities for PACE OD Solutions and Offerings.
